Recently graduated as a recipient of the Starling Foundation scholarship studying with Jaime Laredo and Malcolm Lowe at CIM with full scholarship. Currently pursuing Master’s of Music degree at The Juilliard School with Joel Smirnoff.
Yun has been one of Taiwan’s top young violinists, winning the top international and national competitions for several years. She recently just had her debut at the Taiwan National Concert Hall as a soloist with the New Arts Symphony Orchestra in June, 2024. Recent competition experiences include advancing to the semi-final round (top 6 candidates) of the 2024 Princess Astrid Violin Competition in Norway, receiving 1st place in both the 2023 Vienna Mozart Competition and Cleveland Institute of Music Annual Milhaud Competition. Other awards include winning the 2nd place in the 2021 New York International Artists Competition, The Dr. Jerome Gross Prize in Violin from the Cleveland Institute of Music, 1st place in the 2013 Alice & Eleonore Schoenfeld 1st International String Competition in Hong Kong and the 2015 National Taiwan Student Music Competition top prize in violin solo. She’s also the first person in HSNU school history who won twice in the School Concerto Competition in both 2015 and 2017. Additionally, she’s the youngest violinist who obtained the 2019 Young Talent Cultivation Program by Taipei City Symphony Orchestra.
As a passionate chamber music performer and orchestra player, Yun has collaborated and performed with many artists including Jaime Laredo, Sharon Robinson, Phillip Setzer, Todd Phillips, James Dunham, and Margaret Batjer. She also received the top prizes from chamber music competitions as a member of Kyklos Quartet including 2nd prize in both the 2022 WDAV chamber music competition and the 2022 Glass City competition, and quarter finalist in the 2022 Fischoff Chamber Music Competition. Yun has been invited to many prestigious festivals including 2024 Pacific Music Festival, 2023 Kneisel Hall Chamber Music Festival, 2022 Sarasota Music Festival, 2021 & 2022 Taipei Music Academy and Festival (full scholarship and travel grant) and 2021 & 2022 NYSOS, 2018 & 2020 Heifetz International Music Institute (with full scholarship), and 2015 Summit Music Festival (with Aaron Rosand).
Orchestras that she had cooperated with as a soloist include New Arts Symphony Orchestra, TSO (Taipei Symphony Orchestra), HSNUSO (HSNU Symphony Orchestra), 3E Youth Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, and The Sun Taipei Youth Orchestra.
